國際3大設計社團組織為國際工業設計社團協會(Icsid)、國際平面設計社團協會(Icograda)與國際室內建築師設計師團體連盟(IFI)，為因應全球化及未來跨設計領域的潮流，2007年，此國際3大設計社團組織(Icsid、Icograda及IFI )正式組成國際設計聯盟」(International Design Alliance ,IDA )，期望能夠達成個別組織無法單獨完成的任務和使命，達到更佳之跨領域合作。
全球首次世界設計大會
2011臺北世界設計大會是由國際3大設計社團組織(Icsid、Icograda及IFI )所組成的「國際設計聯盟(IDA)」在成立後首次的世界設計大會。台灣創意設計中心在政府的支持下，經過長期的努力，終於從全球13個國家、19個城市中脫穎而出，取得2011世界設計大會的主辦資格。這項結合平面設計、工業設計及室內設計等三項設計領域的設計盛宴，可說是設計界的聯合國大會。
交鋒 Design at the Edges
•共包含三項意涵設計：實務與其他領域（包括科學、技術、政府、商業、非政府及人道組織）在設計相互激盪後的前瞻突破。
•不同設計專業（特別是工業設計、視覺傳達設計與室內設計）相互激盪後的前瞻突破。
•呈現具嶄新、爭議性、實驗性及挑戰設計專業界限作品與概念。
